Garden Design Service

The process to create your garden generally follows this path:

Initial consultation - Gardens are about people so it's important that I spend time getting to know you and understanding what you want from your garden. This consultation can last up to 2 hours, it is free and you are under no obligation to continue the process.

Garden survey - Should you decide to proceed, you will need a survey of your garden.  This is an essential part of the design process as it allows for accurate designs and plans, and reduces unplanned and unnecessary expense during the build phase. Depending on the size and complexity of the site, I will carry this out or can recommend a Land Surveyor.

Concept design - An outline drawing, with colour,  of your new garden.  It's an opportunity for discussion and review and your input here is really valuable so that it's a collaborative process.

Detailed outline design - This is the fully worked up and detailed design and will enable you to visualise your completed garden.

Planting design - I will choose every plant based on your preferences, my horticultural knowledge and my vision for your garden, giving all year round interest and good structure.  Along with the planting plan, which shows the position and name of every plant, I will produce a schedule for the nursery.

Construction drawings and specification - These are the technical drawings produced for the landscape contractor and the written instructions detailing the materials and techniques to be used to realise the garden I have designed for you.

Planting - I will set out all the plants and you can do the planting or I can recommend someone.

Maintenance schedule - After completion, how to take care of your garden.

Regular site visits - Health checks to edit the garden over time to keep it fresh and rejuvenated.

All designs are hand drawn - This means I really get into the feel and detail of the space resulting in a design that is truly specific to you.
